Located between Hankyu Amagasaki Station and Deguchiya Station, the arcade shopping street in the heart of Amagasaki City stretches across the area. In addition to the Chuo Shopping Street and Sanwa Hondori Shopping Street, there are also markets that vividly retain the nostalgic Showa-era living atmosphere.
One of them is "Sanwa Market," located on the southeast side of Sanwa Hondori Shopping Street. Nestled within the sprawling arcade street like a mesh, it is truly a hidden gem, adding complexity to the structure of the shopping street, serving as the kitchen of the local community.
Sanwa Market is said to be the oldest public market in this area, established as such even before the pre-war era. After the war, a large-scale black market emerged around Sanwa Market, flourishing as the most significant gathering point for goods in the Hankyu region. The remnants of that era can still be seen in the arcade streets like Sanwa Hondori and Shin-Sanwa Shopping Street.
